Ibrahim Said
Maker/Collector Statement
Very few pieces survive of my father’s work. He passed away in 2010, after a lifetime of being a potter.
He earned a living as a technician for ceramic artists and making pottery for the tourist and commercial markets in Cairo, Egypt.
This small cup (Creamer) was part of a tea set that he made. It is a typically Egyptian design.
I love Egyptian patterns and styles; they are the basis for all of my work (Cresent Vase), and I hold onto this because it reminds me of where I came from and of the man who taught me everything that I know about clay.
