Maker/Collector Statement
I fell in love with Michael Simon’s work as a pottery student.
I love the way his Pitcher feels when pouring and the look and feel of his handle. When I bought this piece in Atlanta, I aspired to make pots as beautiful and elegant as his.
I kept my piece Consumption for my children to have someday. This piece was on the cover of Ceramics Monthly in February 2009, their birthday month. I chose the title after learning that Sarah Barrett Moulton, the young girl in Thomas Lawerence’s iconic painting, Pinkie, died from consumption.
